With almost 100k plays since its 20-hour-ago upload, ‘Affection‘ is kicking up a stink for the Crystal Castles fans. This is the next track revealed off the highly anticipated new album (III). Luckily you won’t have to wait too long for the album, as the release date is only a few weeks away (November 12th).
One thing you do know from the teaser tracks from the forthcoming album is that Crystal Castles’ sound hasn’t changed much from their original sound. This isn’t a bad thing at all, however it does leave you with the feeling that it may just be a record dropping back to their first full-length, self-titled album Crystal Castles.
‘Affection‘ has all of the same ingredients as the older tracks; distant reverberated vocals (of which you have no idea what they are saying), 808 drum snaps and gated synths. As a fan of the previous material from the Castles, it’s no surprise that ‘Affection‘ has re-energized my want, and need to listen to the new and old album. Check it out below:
03. Wrath of God
05. Pale Flesh
06. Sad Eyes
09. Violent Youth
12. Child I Will Hurt You
The artwork for the forthcoming album is an award winning photograph taken by the photojournalist Samuel Arand and features Fatima al-Qaws cradling her son Zayed who is suffering from the effects of tear gas after participating in a street demonstration in Sanaa, Yemen.
Crystal Castles will be playing a select number of UK tour dates in November:
