Massively acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas) is currently directing a new documentary on the life of The Beatles Guitarist, George Harrison.
Scorsese has always has had a passion for the "vérité" elements of filmmaking, directing "The Last Waltz" (1978), The Bands fair well gig which featured a host of different artists including Neil Young. "No Direction Home: Bob Dylan" (2005), was the spectacular film comprised of archived footage from Dylan’s heyday with new interview’s was Scorsese’s big return to music documentaries and most recent was his tribute to the Rolling Stones "Shine A Light" (2008).
Scorsese’s aptitude for music documentaries is well refined so we can over look his qualification to cover such a topic as the life of a Beatle.
The two part series "George Harrison: Living In The Material World" will air on HBO, October 5th and 6th and will probable see screenings in Art House cinema’s across the country.
The film features interviews from the two remaining Beatles, Eric Clapton, Yoko Ono and Tom Petty, just to mention a few.
