OMAR nominated for MOBO AWARD: BEST UK R&B/SOUL ACT – VOTE NOW!

Omar is simply one of the most talented soul artists in the UK and it has been a great honour to release his music on Tru Thoughts. The respect he has from many of the big players in the scene is without doubt, and this prestigious award nomination is nothing short of what he deserves.

When I grow up I wanna be Omar” – STEVIE WONDER
Omar’s one of my favourite artists ever – ERYKAH BADU
The original nu-classic soul guvnor” – TREVOR NELSON

It’s been an incredible 2011 so far for Omar. His comeback single with Zed Bias, “Dancing”, was Playlisted on BBC 1Xtra and received airplay across the board from BBC Radio 1‘s late night elite, including Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson, Rob Da Bank, Mista Jam, Benji B, and Gilles Peterson, as well as across quality radio stations in the UK and internationally. Tru Thoughts re-released his classic album "Sing (If You Want It)" a few weeks ago due to great demand for the music. A phenomenal record that features heavyweight guests from the world of soul and R&B including Stevie Wonder, Estelle, Common, Angie Stone and Rodney P, it has been welcomed with open arms by the music press and his fans alike.

This nomination for the Best UK Soul / R&B Act just tops it all off! When we phoned him to ask how this made him feel, he simply said… "It’s humbling to be nominated when surrounded by so much young British talent…"
