Today, LA-based indie all-stars Saint Motel unveiled their video for the breakout single "Puzzle Pieces" in a worldwide premiere on mtvU. The video, which was directed by Saint Motel frontman A/J Jackson, highlights their ability to create undeniably catchy hooks and brings to light their highly cinematic aesthetic and aural sensibility. To create "Puzzle Pieces" an exclusive helmet-cam was developed for the video, allowing the band to provide an insider’s look at the song from the performer’s perspective.
"The Puzzle Pieces music video was a great example of being able to see tones, feelings, and imagery just from listening to the music. I knew I wanted to include Latin inspired dancing and I knew I needed a high-energy camera feel," remarked A/J Jackson. "We decided to build a helmet-cam that we could strap on to the actor to try and capture that frenetic camera movement. And we were lucky enough to get one of the best dancer/choreographers around (Ryan Heffington) to put together some great performances."
On October 21, Saint Motel will headline HALT’s "Life in a Music Video" event at Siren Studios, where attendees will be asked to live their "Life in a Music Video." Attendees are encouraged to dress up as characters from their favorite music videos, and throughout the evening there will be band performances as well as live choreographed short re-enactments of scenes from iconic videos.
With a sound as blistering as a parking lot on the hottest day of summer and a tireless devotion to the gods of rock and roll, Saint Motel are an indie, cinematic, hard-pop band with an intriguing blend of mischief and sincerity. Breaking out with "Puzzle Pieces" and a boundary pushing, explosive live show, Saint Motel are moving full speed ahead with their light hearted melodies and roll around on the floor excitement.
