If you’re one of the lucky ones and you still have a full head of hair, then growing it out might be a nice change of style for you. If you’ve never done it before, why not give it a try.
Longer hair allows you to have multiple looks, especially when it’s long enough to tie up. Here are some top ways you can look after your growing hair and potentially grow it a little quicker.
Just don’t cut it
Sounds pretty simple. However, it’s probably one of the hardest things to do when it comes to growing your hair out. You have to get your head around the fact that your hair on average grows around half an inch to an inch per month.
You need to be committed and look at the bigger picture if you’re going to get a longer hairstyle. Starting off can be the worst, but try to wait at the very least six months to get the initial growth going.
To keep things clean you can still go to the barbers. Depending on how you want to style it, but one of the coolest and easiest ways to start keeps the length on the top, and trimming the sides. This means you can just slick back your hair, or sweep to one side.
Use a good conditioner
It’ll be trial and error for a long time to find the right hair products, so stick with this too. But always remember to condition your hair every other day.
Conditioners promote healthy hair when used consistently over time. Which will result in much quicker growth.
Shampoo hair now and again
This one can be difficult and you don’t want your head to start stinking. Especially if you gym most days and you get super sweaty.
A shampoo is designed to remove dirt, oils, and product build-up in your hair. When used too much, it can remove the good stuff like the natural oils.
Use an oil
There are many oils available for your hair. Argon oil, Morrocan oil, and coconut oil are all popular ones. Coconut oil is really a stand out product to use on your hair because it’s completely natural and you can find it pretty much everywhere.
Try a small amount on the ends of your hair before you go to bed to see how it feels the next day. Being consistent here can add up to healthier, better-looking hair. Careful not to add too much as your hair can get really greasy.
When it gets a little longer, you may want to opt for some leave-in conditioner. Again be careful with this one as your hair can get greasy quite easily.
Just apply a small amount to the tips of the hair if it’s looking and feeling a little dry. You’ll be all set for the day and not worry about a dreaded bad hair day.
