Central Cee – Commitment Issues. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.
It’s easy to tell when a rapper has freestyle chops, like Central Cee does. The West London 22-year-old frequently hits on the familiar drill subjects – violence, drugs, money, etc. But teenage Cee made a name for himself in the hood, on the corner, bundling intricate turns of phrase that were by turns humorous, revealing, and self-aware. “Every time that I rap ’bout hoes / I know that you hate those lyrics,” he admits to a romantic muse on “Commitment Issues.” That’s a rare level of vulnerability in the Kevlar-wrapped world of drill and trap. “Commitment Issues” is from Cee’s self-released ‘Wild West’ debut mixtape, a 14-track cocktail of aggression and wit that’s drawn love from fans and critics, ultimately hitting #3 on the UK charts. That’s a rarity for an indie drill album. Multiple “Wild West” tracks have comfortably zoomed past seven-figures in views/streams. We have a feeling this “Commitment Issues” DSCVR performance is gonna be hot, too.
