Heart Bones released the video for ‘Open Relations,’ the first single off of their upcoming LP, Hot Dish, out February 21st on Love OnLine Records. You can watch the video below:
The luminous pop duo of Sean Tillmann (Har Mar Superstar) and Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog/Sweet Spirit) created a nostalgic, hilarious and visually stunning concept on a far-out one-sided open relationship.
Speaking on the Ed Dougherty-directed visual, Tillmann explains, “After brainstorming through the concept, multiple fun set ups/locations, sharing Sabrina’s guest rooms, and watching Joy Ride and Parasite at night after long days of shooting in Austin I’m happy to report I found a new friendship with someone as nerdy about film as myself. Ed Dougherty somehow wrangled an entire film’s worth of shots and story into a 4 minute music video.
“On top of that, he brought in the amazing and talented Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter, Eastsiders) to give an amazing depth and sweetness to our other-worldly Space Person character. New friendships and good vibes were the feelings on set. Did I mention the whole video was shot on actual film? That’s something none of us has been able to pull off before this.”
Limited-edition Hot Dish pre-order bundles are now available here and include custom merch like colour vinyl, t-shirts, oven mitts, and signed one-of-one polaroids.
Heart Bones is a collaboration between Sean Tillmann (aka Har Mar Superstar) and Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog / Sweet Spirit). The two became fast friends while touring together in 2016. They recognized a kindred quality of over-the-top showmanship, and their new project became inevitable.
Throughout 2018 the duo alternated visits to each other’s hometowns of Minneapolis and Austin to co-write original material. Inspired by their favorite classic duos such as Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood, Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin, Sonny & Cher, and Sam & Dave, their influences have spanned everything from doo wop, classic duets, musical theater, electro dance, and melancholy pop.
Heart Bones will kick off the release by hitting the road in North America this February.
