Boundary-breaking pop visionaries La Femme – Marlon Magnée and Sacha Got – are in currently in the process of creating a music video for all 16 tracks from their critically acclaimed third album ‘Paradigmes’. Their song ‘Divine Créature’ was inspired by a visit to Berlin’s iconic fetish venue the KitKatClub, resulting in lyrics which explore the concept of being completely sexually and emotionally dependent on someone.
A snapshot of the track’s translated lyrics includes: “I am the thirty wolf, reduced to the state of a beast. I am just obeying. I beg you, I kiss you. Free me, I’m asking you. I want to experience ecstasy.”
Consequently, La Femme wanted to create a visual which captured that intense sexual obsession. That led to them inviting their friends, Leolulu – France’s best-known but almost completely anonymous amateur porn couple – to star in the video. Since posting their first sext tape on PornHub, the couple have amassed almost a billion video views as well as an audience of 1.1 million subscribers.
La Femme also called upon the talents of visual artist Polygon1993 (whose credit include Tame Impala and Charli XCX) to direct the video. His glitchy, retro-futuristic animations of the couple having sex blurs the lines between explicit pornography and digital art, creating an esoteric and throught-provoking visual that’s a very natural fit for La Femme’s aesthetic.
The explicit version of the video is now live on PornHub, while a censored edit is online at YouTube.
The ‘Divine Créature’ video will also form part of La Femme’s upcoming feature-length movie ‘Paradigmes: Le Film’. Hosted by actors Cesar Domboy (‘Outlander’) and Romain Brau (‘The Shiny Shrimps’), the film will blend music videos from all of the album’s tracks with new fictional scenes. Sasha Got previously described the film to Gigwise as being “like a mix between Monty Python, the Phantom of the Paradise, Rocky Horror Picture Show; but with a French mood, with berets and people drinking wine and being drunk.”
La Femme and Polygon1993 first collaborated on the album cover for ‘Paradigmes’ as well as its subsequent Deluxe Edition. Their creative partnership continues as they will release a series of NFTs from December 1st. The series will include animated versions of the album and single artwork that include exclusive audio loops, as well as other exclusive La Femme-themed artwork. Please see here for details on how to buy the NFTs.
