Samantha Sánchez – No Quiero Na’. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.
Singing. Rapping. Dancing. Directing. If you’re looking for a great example of Samantha Sánchez’ myriad talents, check her “No Quiero Na’” music video. From the choreographed shimmies to the out-there fashion choices, it’s clear she went all out – both in front of and behind the lens – in making a vibrant visual statement for the hit track off her ‘Amor Roma’ album. Like so many new artists – Tate McRae and Maeta are two recent DSCVR alums that come to mind – the Miami-based youngster initially gained popularity for her YouTube channel, on which she charmed viewers with vlogs and song covers. In fact, this massive Rihanna and Frank Ocean fan admits that she’s more comfortable in front of a camera than she is singing in front of people. At the same time, she also cops to being a “nerd for music.” Somewhat nerdily, her ‘Amor Roma’ album’s title is a palindrome. “Intro,” “Romance” and “De Mí,” the album’s first, middle and final track, respectively, are sparse and confessional. Sandwiched between them are Latin pop bangers, including “No Quiero Na’ and “2050,” which brim with confidence, hooky harmonies and forceful percussion. Sáncheezy definitely had her swag on with the lens pointed her way in our DSCVR studio. She even boldly stuck a Nelly-esque band-aid across her nose as a fashion statement. Stick around, another performance is on the way.
