Suspend gameplay with much less power wasted than the PlayStation 4.

The highly-anticipated new games console from Sony, the PlayStation 5 has many, many features. A feature to keep us and the United Nations happy is the ability to suspend gameplay with much less power wasted than the PlayStation 4.

It’s a small feature, yet small changes make such a big impact over time. With a small adjustment to the way to use power, let’s say one million users, could save the equivalent to the average electricity use of 1,000 US homes.

Sony’s president and CEO Jim Ryan has also stated in their Playing for the Planet alliance that they will be looking into the carbon footprint of their gaming services, and report the energy used for their data centres.

According to Tech Radar, Sony PlayStation 5 is due for release at the end of 2020.
